Classical Music for Metal fans? Part 2 of the series. We suggest more Classical Music for Metalheads

Part 1 of the series is here. This is a multi-part series where we suggest Classical Music for Metal fans.

The whole world underestimates Metalheads. You know this. We know this. We're a hell of a lot smarter than people think, and contrary to popular opinion, we're generally a hell of a lot smarter than the average person, especially people who listen to nothing but pop music. Of course, that's not saying much. But I digress.

Here, we suggest more Classical music for Metal fans.

Dvorak's New World Symphony, especially the Finale would definitely appeal to Metal tastes. From the opening notes, which the soundtrack to Jaws definitely ripped off, to the theme which comes in right away, this music is HEAVY. Composed in 1893 while he was living in America, Dvorak premiered this symphony at Carnegie Hall and it was met with thundering applause. A little fact - Neil Armstrong took a copy of this symphony to the moon, literally.

Edvard Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King. You already know this piece. You've heard a million Metal bands do covers of it, with some of them doing it pretty well. Written in the 1860s for Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite, this piece is about Peer Gynt in the Troll Mountain King's great hall with trolls, gnomes, and goblins and the Troll Kind sits on his throne, holding a scepter. If anything screams METAL...

Peer Gynt

And lastly, of course, Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Preaching to the choir. All Metalheads love this symphony because Beethoven was Metal for his day. People complained that his music wasn't art and it was just pointless noise. Sound familiar?

Of course now we know Beethoven as perhaps the greatest composer who ever lived. But back then, he was quite controversial.
